Overview

The St. Anthony Middle School (SAMS) Counseling Program is committed to supporting all students at SAMS in their academic, personal, social, and emotional development.

The counselor provides individual short-term counseling, group peer counseling, classroom guidance, and referrals for additional support.

Why would I see my counselor?

A student may see a counselor for a variety of reasons. School counselors are trained to help students with:

Personal issues: stress, anxiety, chemical use, eating issues, depression, etc.
Social issues: peer conflicts, family concerns, friendship or relationship issues, etc.
Academics: study skills, help with organization, regular check ins, etc.
Career/college planning: future college and career exploration and planning.

How do I make an appointment?

There are many different ways to set up an appointment with the counselor:

Students can check in with the counselor or with main office staff before or after school, or during passing periods to arrange a time to meet.
Students and families can contact the counselor via email at rnettleton@isd282.org or by phone at 612-706-1109.
If the matter is urgent, students can ask their teacher for a pass to visit the counselor.
Students can request a virtual appointment with the counselor through the SAMS Virtual Calming Room.
